BOOZE AND MARIJUANA

Booze is legal now but marijuana is still a major crime,
A bit different than our booze prohibition once upon a time,
And just as marijuana charges fill the criminal courts now,
Booze charges filled the liquor courts then and most of us felt proud.



But booze prohibition had to be abandoned long ago,
This of course stopped the mafia from making too much dough,
But now we have this drug cartel in Mexico taking charge,
Killing and making money hand over fist by enlarge.



There is a tendency to look at this as all Mexican stuff,
Their problem; let them look after it and that should be enough,
But the illegality of marijuana here is the cause,
Folk are getting killed, directly and indirectly and just because.
