They’re getting worked up about a Quebec referendum,
Journalists writing every day in another memorandum,
As we bilinguals and multiculturalists have no control,
Will they get free university education as their goal?
The government of Quebec never signed Trudeau’s Charter,
Does that mean they were smarter or this; a nonstarter?
What if they have a referendum and decide to separate?
Can a province do that, or is this something we should debate?
If Quebec has a referendum, we should have one too,
Should we check with the Supreme Court and get their view?
Write a Canadian Constitution and this time get it straight,
Can provincial equality be worked out in this debate?
Binding referendums and death with dignity should be there,
Regardless of what established bureaucrats think of this affair,
Set-date elections every four years and constituent recall,
National unity high on the agenda as politicians glare.
