Who is that group of folk who seem to rule the roost?
Powerful bureaucrats who seem to never give us a boost,
Where death with dignity is banned and seldom even mentioned,
Where media moguls obey, so there's no need for interventions.
We have no binding referendums so nothing will change,
Where no will of the people can even be mentioned or arranged,
Where death with dignity is illegal and a doctor could go to jail,
Though extremely expensive lawyers could apply for bail.
We need to rewrite Pierre Trudeau's Charter of Rights,
And not just sit here comfortable while they turn out the lights,
While Sue Rodriguez's death penalty could be announced once more,
But this time its all Canadians who could fail to score.
