They say that no one wants to die but apparently some do,
Sue Rodriguez did but our Supreme Court refused and who knew?
“Whose life is it anyway?” Sue asked and she was not amused,
Media moguls, priests and bishops were not in the least bit confused.
Hope you never end up in a bad situation like that,
And expect our Supreme Court or politicians to go to bat,
Death with dignity should be discussed on every veranda,
Assisted suicide should be on every political agenda.
If we had binding referendums we could solve this problem now,
No need for the judges or the politicians to prance and disallow,
And those with Lou Gehrig’s disease or worse could just go and die,
With referendums there would be no need to go and apply.
