We don’t have mid-term elections but maybe we should,
We don’t have binding referendums but we would if we could,
Politicians will decide so there’s no need for a plebiscite,
Death with dignity would be nice though but no need to excite.
Elected senators or Supreme Court judges are not allowed,
We have appointed judges that permitted abortions but feel proud,
Proportional representation would be nice if they knew how,
But the present system seems to have turned into a sacred cow.
We have Trudeau’s Charter that gave EVERYONE in the world, rights,
We have incoming ships full of illegal refugees in sight,
I hope Stephen Harper can eventually straighten things out,
So that Canadians can finally feel that we have some clout.
