Senate Appointees May 31st 2012

Conservative majority plus Mulroney-type appointees,
Shocked us with the unexpected, back then, and gave us the GST,
An extortionate tax that has kept all Canadians down,
And even today, many years later,
good people still frown.
But no politician has stood up and said, let’s lower that tax,
A burdensome tax like that should have been, long ago, whacked,
Still even today
appointees come from secret appointee lists,
We can’t vote for senators and our politicians still persist.
Democracy is an illusion as far as they are concerned,
We are forbidden binding referendums that are spurned,
Their hidden agenda will be discussed behind closed doors locked,
Where democracy, input and the people have been blocked.
