YOU CAN’T DIE ON SCHEDULE
By
James Bredin

There is nothing surer than the fact that we are going to die,
Some of us may want to change the schedule and even say, “Goodbye.”
But public-policy decisions are made very far away,
In Ottawa where politicians and bureaucrats have their say.

Therefore we need to change but unfortunately we’re not allowed,
And we have no referendums so you have to wait to wear a shroud,
It’s party policy and agenda that rules our democracy,
And we are also dominated by religious theocracy.

We need a “YES” or “NO” from MPs before the next election,
So we know how they will vote if this comes up for selection,
And if we want to take diazepam we can just go ahead,
We don’t have to go all the way to Switzerland instead.
