Assisted Suicide and you

If we had euthanasia we could die when, where and if we liked,
But the clergy don't like it and the suggestion is disliked,
Binding referendums, proportional representation and recall,
Could help us get euthanasia without having to crawl.



We can only get their attention when they call an election,
But there's no set date and we seldom vote, so slight connection,
We could be compared to a herd of sheep being led along the road,
With euthanasia and suicide still in the criminal code.



This is a subject that pompous religious potentates dread,
But times change and we should change too and move ahead,
The religious crowd have ruled the roost for thousands of years
With their elite symbols and garments they spread lots of fears.
