Changes are banned

When it comes time to demand changes, Canadians loose out,
Somehow or other we don't seem to know what this is about,
We seem to assume that everything is right, so why bother vote,
Ottawa is far away where everything is done on remote.

We have no binding referendums and no political recall,
No compulsory voting so few Canadians vote at all,
We're very busy at the moment watching hockey on TV,
And everything's okay there, they say, so may as well leave it be.

Because all Canadian political changes are banned,
And refugee hearings go on and on forever on remand,
While the TV talking heads tell us that everything is great,
None of this of course ever comes up for political debate.
