Death with Dignity
By
James Bredin

We do not have citizens initiative to get this discussed,
There are powerful groups who look at this dilemma with disgust,
Despite the fact that we are all slowly approaching death,
Those who are terminally ill in pain are interested; you bet.

This is a subject that Canadian politicians avoid,
In case some of their constituents might be annoyed,
The Supreme Court refused to help Sue Rodriguez ten years ago,
With a painful disease she was forced to die and kowtow.

“Whose life is it anyway?” she asked in pain before she died,
The silent appointed Supreme Court behaved as if annoyed,
Canadians are not allowed to control their own destiny,
Have to accept the slow painful death problems and ignominy.
