The Powers that Be

They are going to form a committee or a panel to discuss,
And they don’t want people like you causing a political fuss,
In their insulated place where referendums are not allowed,
Nothing is wrong and they feel so very confident and proud.



They are quite pleased with the political way things are right now,
No set-date elections so they will decide when, where and how,
No recall so therefore they can stay where they are forever,
This is how it is and they believe they are quite clever.



No compulsory voting so Canadians seldom vote,
So media moguls and their assistance rule by remote,
Can’t have referendums, recall or compulsory votes so there!
Our politicians are good guys so no need to beware.
