Our Heads in the Sand

We have a heads-in-the-sand political mentality,
And we’re so proud and think that this is our speciality,
Don’t rock the power-brokers boat because they might get mad,
And don’t think too much about it because it could be very sad.



We don’t have compulsory voting so we seldom vote,
It doesn’t matter what our Ottawa politicians promote,
We’re not allowed binding referendums like the Swiss, so there!
And we couldn’t care less because we’re not very much aware.



We don’t have set-date elections so no one really knows,
And we can’t vote for the PM by name because others chose,
Can’t recall any politicians no matter how they behave,
We’re afraid to show Ottawa that we might be a bit brave.
