Have we got too much pride?

Have we got too much pride to realize we've gone completely wrong?
And no one has the audacity to say this has gone on too long,
And those parole-board released prisoners should be kept in jail,
And not given pompous pardons or released on easy bail.

The country seems to be run by invisible bureaucrat types,
From offices in big buildings with fancy titles and stripes,
Soft sentences, easy bail and social workers by the score,
Helping various vicious criminals walk out the prison door.

It brings our justice system to the point where it doesn't exist,
Why does the parole board rules the roost and constantly persist,
Are we completely trapped by their events and time and place?
Unable to change things and improve our Canadian state.
