More Respect for the victims of crime
By
James Bredin
We need much more and greater respect for the victims of crime,
They should have serious input to parole board hearings all the time,
Whether by video or in person, they should call the shots,
Nothing is agreed unless all these victims sign all the dots.
This should be written into law so the parole board folk know,
Because precious freedom should not be their's alone to bestow,
Because it's obvious that our system has gone out of control,
The way they hand out such easy and frequent bail and parole.
The ombudsman for the victims of crime should quietly ensure,
That the victim's wishes are not manipulated to obscure,
Where the complete prisoner's record is open for everyone to see,
No claim to Charter Rights for prisoners in any degree.
