Why can't we change?
By
James Bredin

Legal-aid lawyers, journalists and activists think it's great,
Human rights for "EVERYONE" in the world and no need for debate,
Then add Trudeau's left-wing Charter and appointed Supreme Court,
Then add ships full of refugees looking for a Canadian port.

Dominated by ideas of the politically correct,
Not something that we the poor constituents might select,
Where binding referendums and set-election dates are banned,
Democracy and proportional representation would be grand.

As though we were in the middle ages and they were kings and queens,
Isolated from us in far-away Ottawa by all means,
And changes are forbidden so there's no need to think,
Ongoing secret appointments to the Senate with a wink.
